Vanguard Furniture
As the name implies, Vanguard Furniture company was conceived with the intention of being on the industry forefront. Since the company's inception in 1969 as a manufacturer of velvet chairs, Vanguard has remained true to its name.
Production of the Vanguard velvet upholstered product was initiated on a small scale with two employees in a modest 5,000 square foot facility in January, 1969. The company soon began to grow in production and, by 1973, built the first of its current facilities in Hickory, North Carolina. During this same year, the fabric line was expanded to offer textured and print fabrics. In 1975, Craftwork Guild was incorporated as a Vanguard company and is now an established leader in the sleep sofa market, having been named a "Best Buy" by Consumers Digest magazine in September, 1999.
In 1993, Vanguard joined the case goods market with the introduction of Occasional Accents. Other licensed collections, PGA Tour Home, and Stetson Home Classics followed.
While we can still offer you a velvet chair if you like, today, Vanguard Furniture has expanded to include much, much more. Under the leadership of CEO John Bray, Vanguard Furniture Company supports nearly 500 employees, occupies over 560,000 square feet in six manufacturing facilities, is represented by retailers in 48 states and six countries, and has established itself as a leader in the home furnishings industry. Vanguard is committed to its Vision and Values statement (featured below), and constantly strives to meet and even exceed both our and our customers' expectations.
